Owners of Jaybretia Pastoral Company
The Sortwell family has a profound love for agriculture. From the humble beginnings of John's father, David, who grew up in Essex, England - setting rabbit traps and going hunting with his brothers & dad. Also, John's mother, Mary, who was born in the regional town of Gulgong - there was rarely a chair that didn't have a joey in the back of a makeshift pouch. John's love of all things agriculture was ingrained from the very beginning. Family bush walks, identifying native plants and various animals are all fond memories of the Sortwell family. John, over many years has slowly convinced his wife Keirsty of the many possibilities of agriculture. Keirsty’s parents are both entrepreneurs who run a successful business together spanning 50 years and still counting… although they may not have passed on a childhood of muddy boots and opening gates, a strong sense of hard work, commitment and adaptability have been instilled within her from a young age. This alone is a mere glimpse into the solid foundation that John and Keirsty have together… they have 3 children together, Jayden, Brennan & Tiahna but undoubtedly, the new kid on the block, Jaybretia Pastoral Company is the apple of their eye and rightly so!
